About GoIT Girls work experience program

Tata Consultancy Services’ GoIT Girls program is a week-long work experience program aimed at female students in Years 10 and 11. At TCS we are empowering Aussie students with the skills they need to be ready for the workplace of the future.

Participants meet senior executives from our company and from our client organisations, who provide insight into the various STEM roles that exist across the business spectrum, with the hope of inspiring a new generation of innovators, problem solvers and technology professionals. The aim is to provide insight into and challenge stereotypes, of the technology industry and challenge gender occupational stereotypes.

GoIT Girls program has four areas of focus:
  • Provide insight into the technology industry, Tata Consultancy Services and the application of technology in our client’s business.
  • Challenge gender stereotypes by showcasing women in STEM as role models
  • Build technical skills through coding but also the application of technology to solve business problems
  • Enhance confidence and employability skills

“It was a very unique experience and I think it was a rare opportunity to participate in such a program. It really helped me gain an insight into a career in IT and I am more confident in studying IT as a woman. - Student, GoIT Girls program, Melbourne 2016
“The GoIT Girls Work Experience Program helps to inspire female students to consider roles and careers that perhaps that didn’t know existed or thought that they were capable of. On the surface the program may appear to be a regular Work Experience placement, but it is so much more.” - Teacher, Melbourne, March 2016
