TCS hosts interns from Australian Universities as part of the New Colombo Plan

Binaisha Kotwal heads Corporate Social Responsibility at TCS Australia and New Zealand where she oversees the programs that TCS undertakes to make a positive impact in the community by using technology to innovate solutions, ensuring our business is environmentally and socially responsible, and encouraging our people to volunteer in the community. Here, Binaisha describes how TCS has partnered with the Department of Foreign Affairs through the New Colombo Program to offer Australian undergraduates new opportunities for prestigious scholarships and grants for study and internships/mentorships in the Indo-Pacific region.

Since July 2017, TCS has provided a month long internship to 30 students from University of New South Wales and Western Sydney University in Mumbai, India. The students come from various academic backgrounds such as business and engineering. They receive technical training that enables them to work on projects for TCS’ Australian clients. This experience contributes to their academic qualification and offers them an opportunity to test their skills and gain first hand knowledge of working in their fields at a global organisation.

During their stay in Mumbai, the students get to enjoy cultural experiences and participate in Corporate Social Responsibility activities such as visits to disadvantaged schools and tree planting, and therefore learn the Tata spirit of giving back to society.

TCS is committed to having a positive impact in the Australian community through our partnership with DFAT and we look forward to providing more opportunities for Australian students to explore and learn.
